Born on the 9th day of August 1968, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita hails from Kankia Local Government area of Katsina State. He had his Primary Education at Sada Primary School, Kankia between 1974-1980. For his secondary education, Senator Kaita attended Kufena College Zaria, Kaduna State between 1980-1985.
He obtained his university degree in Sociology from Bayero University Kano in 1992 and thereafter participated in the one-year compulsory National Youth
Service in Port-Harcourt between 1994-1995.
As a detribalized Nigerian, Senator Babba Kaita decided to stay back in Port-Harcourt after his meritorious National Youth Service to pursue a career in the Nigerian Oil and gas industry and worked with Splendid International Limited for a period of over 15 years. He rose to the position of Managing Director, Everglade Agencies Limited before joining partisan politics in 2010 and got elected into the National Assembly first as Member, Federal House of Representatives representing Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency, a position he occupied until his election into the 8th Senate in 2018 to fill the vacuum created in Katsina North Senatorial District following the unfortunate demise of Senator Mustapha Bukar. In 2019, Senator Kaita was again re-elected into the 9th Senate and currently represents Katsina North.
Since his election into the National Assembly, Senator Kaita’s Legislative activities are driven by a rare passion and his zeal to ensure national unity, youth employment, community development, educational reforms to engender quality education at all levels and promotion of security nationwide. To this end, Senator Kaita, while in the House of Representatives sponsored several Bills amongst which are: Terrorism Act (Amendment) Bill 2016, Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2016, National Institute for Arid Research and Desertification Control (Establishment) Bill 2016, Animal Diseases Control (Amendment) Bill 2016, Small and Medium scale Enterprises Development Agency Act (Amendment) Bill 2016, and National Housing Fund (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill. Senator Kaita while at the 8th and 9th senate sponsored several Bills and Motions among which are, Local Government Autonomy Bill, A Bill to rename Federal Polytechnic Daura to Senator Bukar Mustapha, A Bill to rename Federal University Dutsin-Ma to Muhammadu Dikko University amongst others.
Senator Kaita has constituency projects spread across the three Senatorial Districts of Katsina state. An ingenuity that has earned him the title, "Borderless Senator” whose commitments for legislative business has redefined legislative representation in the country. For instance, in 2020 alone, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita has facilitated no fewer than 70 intervention projects across the three senatorial districts of Katsina state. The projects, mostly construction of Classrooms, Primary Health Care centers, Information and Communication centers, electrification of rural areas and Construction of motorized boreholes were delivered to the residents of the selected communities in dire need of such interventions. Asides infrastructure, the Distinguished Senator's job opportunities for youths of the state was being distributed across the three zones to ensure that qualified individuals from the state were not left out of his unequalled gesture, not minding whether the beneficiaries were from his constituency or not. Distinguished Senator Kaita's achievements are identified with his exposure, brilliance, quantum intellect, charisma and ability to relate mutually with his colleagues, irrespective of tribe and religion. His passion for education, better healthcare services and clean water supply to the people of the state, has no bound.
As one of the most influential Senators in the 9th Assembly chairing the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita's disposition and managerial skills is a clear indication of his wealth of knowledge, experience, capacity and competence. As a man committed to women and youth empowerment, Senator Kaita had in the last eight years at the National Assembly attracted thousands and more constituencies projects including; constructions of class rooms blocks across the three Senatorial zones, classes for 4,054 students across the 12 LGs in Katsina North Senatorial District, construction of hundreds of thousands of motorized and hand pump boreholes across the senatorial district, provisions of over 40 Transformers across the Senatorial Zone and influenced the establishment of both Federal Fire Service Training Institute in Kankia and Federal Polytechnic Daura which is to be renamed as Bukar Mustapha Federal Polytechnic Daura.
In the nine years of his committee membership at the National Assembly, Senator Kaita has chaired several important committees including:

Distinguished Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita is currently the chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND and vice Chairman Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions as well as members of senate Committee on Finance, Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Committee on Marine Transport, INEC among others.
Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita is happily married and blessed with six children.
His hobbies are reading, tourism, polo game, socializing with family and friends.
